# Run control

> Stopping, resuming and closing a task.

A **run** is one launch of a task’s pipeline. You control it from the header of the task card:

- **Stop run** — pause it; finished subtasks are kept.
- **Resume** — continue from where it stopped.
- **Close task** — available when no run is in progress.

A stopped task gets the **“Stopped”** status, and the [stage strip](/en/docs/pipeline/lifecycle) stays at the stage where it was stopped and notes who did it and when. Stages the task has not reached show neither dates nor results — a stopped task does not look finished.
