# Quick start

> Two tracks: with a repository — up to the first task and pull request; without code — up to the first question about your department’s documents.

There are two ways to start with Buff, and they part at the third step. The first two — registration and the organisation — are shared.

## With a repository

For an engineering team: at the end you will set your first task and take it all the way to a pull request.

## Without code

For a department that has no repository or for which it does not matter: support, sales, legal, HR, finance, marketing, management. At the end you will ask your first question about your department’s documents and get an answer with a link to the document.

4. [What to ask your administrator for](/en/docs/for-admin) — a checklist for your IT specialist: the connector and the connection to your documents
5. [The first question](/en/docs/no-code#4-the-first-question) — and onwards along the [“Buff without a repository”](/en/docs/no-code) track

Both tracks live in the same organisation: engineers work in development projects, other departments in spaces, and they share the knowledge base and the members.
