# Publishing upstream

Once approved, Buff opens a pull request or merge request directly in your repository — on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or Gitea.

## Access pre-check

For each changed module you see the provider and the upstream, and access is checked; if a token is missing, you are taken to the settings.

## Target branch

You choose the target branch upstream. You do the merge yourself — Buff only prepares the PR/MR.

## Mirror sync

The “Repositories” section shows how mirrors differ from upstream by branch and lets you pull changes one way.

A detailed guide is [in the documentation](https://buff.systems/en/docs/review/publish).
